Choosing the right size polished concrete dining table is about comfort and flow, not rules. This guide explains how to size a table that works for everyday life and special occasions.

Start with everyday seating

The biggest mistake people make is designing for occasional hosting rather than daily use. Think about how many people you seat most days and build the table around that.

A practical guide is allowing around 55–60cm of table edge per person. This gives enough elbow room without making the table feel oversized.

Typical size ranges

For four people, tables usually fall between 140–180cm in length.

Six-seat tables often land between 180–220cm, while eight-seat tables are commonly 240cm or longer.

These are not fixed rules — room layout, chair style and base design all influence the final size.

Width and comfort

Width affects how relaxed dining feels. Narrow tables save space but can feel tight for serving.

Most homes work well with widths between 90–100cm, balancing comfort and circulation.

Wider tables can be beautiful statement pieces but need more clearance around them.

Clearance around the table

Aim for roughly 90cm behind chairs so people can move comfortably.

In tighter rooms, 75cm can work, but it becomes important to plan chair size carefully.

A common sizing mistake

Choosing a table purely on how it looks online without checking how chairs, walkways and doors interact in real life.
